I am a wife, mom and writer. This is my personal blog. It is focused on helping hurting women find hope and healing from fear, anxiety and depression so that they can begin to live again. I write about fear – what it is, what it isn’t and how to find freedom from it. I write about anxiety and the real world of depression – the raw reality of it, how to fight through it and how to come out on the other side. On occasion I write about other miscellaneous stuff. Typically I post 1-2 times a week, sometimes individual post and other times, in a series.
For much of my professional life, I have been a bookkeeper and office administrator for various companies. Seven of those years were spent owning and assisting my husband Brian in running a remodeling company in Virginia. I was in charge of Bookkeeping, Office management and Marketing. In 2009 we closed our company due to market conditions and the severe downturn in the housing market at that time.
In the summer of 2008 (prior to our business closing) our family relocated to a small rural county in Virginia to give Pastoral leadership to a small church plant. We served as the Senior Pastoral Couple for 5 years, with our service ending in the summer of 2014.
For several years, prior to church planting, I served as the Arts Director at our home church of Cornerstone Church of Augusta, successfully writing and directing the annual Easter Dinner Theater. We saw thousands of people come through the doors during that time and over the course of those years, many come to know the Lord. It truly was a life changing experience for me and served to launch me further into pursuing my love of writing.
In 2013 I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Christian Counseling from Liberty University. I will begin pursuing my Masters Degree in Professional Counseling through Liberty University in the spring of 2015
Most recently, in July 2014, I left the world of bookkeeping and accounting to pursue writing full time. I accepted a job with Liberty University as a full time staff writer/blogger for the Online Communities Department . It is a privilege to spend my days engaging, connecting and encouraging students to the heart of God as they pursue their education at Liberty University.
I meet my husband in High School. We were both pretty headstrong back then (and still can be). God needed to do some work on our hearts before He brought us together. The year following high school our paths crossed once again. We were married in 1996 and in 1998 we welcomed our first daughter. We now have four daughters and have been married 18 years. It’s been an amazing journey, some of it wonderful and some of it heart wrenching difficult, as life can be. Through it all, I am blessed to have my family beside me to travel this life together.
Together we enjoy hiking, camping and time around the dinner table. It is always a highlight to come together at the end of the day and hear each one’s “high” and “low” for the day. It serves to remind me of God’s deepest blessings and His sustaining grace.
